5 Ways To Look Even Better In Your Portraits!

It’s “By-The-Way-Thursday!”

What does that mean, Vivi?

Oh, well, I am so glad you asked!

On Thursdays I’ll be posting a little somethin’-somethin’ to help you out in the photography world.

So let’s get to it!

#BTWT WEEK 1:

5 Ways To Look Even Better In Your Portraits!

1. Powder up!

Bring and wear translucent face powder to your session. This helps reduce excess shine, which can distract from your gorgeous features. My favorite right now is Coty Airspun from CVS!

2. Smile Like You Mean It!

We’ve been saying “Cheese!” for the camera since we were in diapers, but a lot of times it comes off, well, cheesy. To look more natural in smiling portraits you need to smile like you mean it. Laugh even! Think of something or someone that genuinely makes you happy. That true happiness will definitely show through in your photo.

3. Ears Forward

This position feels so odd to most people, but it looks sooo good! Sometimes photographers call it, sticking your neck out, pulling your ears forward, pushing your forehead forward, etc. and the reason we like it so much is because it accentuated your jawline and gives separation between your neck and face. Katie demonstrated this technique very well in her Doctor Who photo session!

4. It’s Okay To Look Away

Another habit we formed while growing up was to always look at the camera when someone is taking your picture. I’m telling you to break the rules! Portraits vary in many ways and looking away from the camera can give an entirely different feel to the scene.

5. Show Your Personality!

Every person is unique with a plethora of emotions. Portraits are a way to show off who you are in the current stage of your life, so make sure we see YOU!
